How HSW Training Works

Screening

After passing your vulnerable sector check and completing the standard CarePartners application process, you will be enrolled in an upcoming HSW training program.

Virtual Learning

For week one and week two, you attend training in a virtual classroom with a small group of classmates and your instructors.

Hands-On Training

During the third and fourth week, students spend time in small groups at their local branch job-shadowing and receiving hands-on training. This part of the course will total 24 hours, broken down over the two weeks.

Ready for Work

  • When training is complete, you write your final exam, and if you are successful, receive your HSW certificate!
  • You can begin working almost immediately with some initial job shadowing and mentoring from other CarePartners home support workers.

Most HSWs will have their own patient roster after the second week of working in the field.
