We are a Best Practice Spotlight Organization

CarePartners is pleased to be recognized by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO).

What is a Best Practice Spotlight Organization?

Best Practice Spotlight Organizations (BPSOs) are health-care and academic organizations selected by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) through a request for proposals process to implement and evaluate the RNAO’s best practice guidelines. It is a dynamic partnership that focuses on making a positive impact on patient care though evidence-based practice. Requests for proposals are released every three years. Starting in Ontario, the BPSO program is now recognized across the world with BPSO designate organizations in Spain, Australia, Belgium, Chili, Columbia, China, Jamaica, South Africa, United States.

History

CarePartners has been involved in the BPSO project since April 1, 2009. We received our Designation as a BPSO on March 31st, 2012, after our three year candidacy period and are now excited to say we have entered into our second biannual contract with RNAO as a Designate Organization.

CarePartners has implemented the following guidelines to date:

CarePartners continues its work on the implementation of:

By implementing these Best Practice Guidelines in various areas across the organization, CarePartners has demonstrated a commitment to creating an environment in which we provide high level, quality and safe care to the patients we serve.

How do we know our efforts are working?

In CarePartners’ effort to utilize evidenced based practice by implementing best practice guidelines a process has been established to monitor and evaluate the impact that best practice guidelines have on our patient population by capturing structural, process and clinical outcomes. CarePartners has an opportunity to input data into RNAO’s database called Nursing Quality Indicators for Reporting and Evaluating (NQUIRE). Internal and external data is gathered and submitted quarterly for each of our nursing areas. In a quality improvement effort, plans are created and executed to support guideline implementation leading to improved employee satisfaction and patient outcomes.

Why do we want to be recognized as a BPSO?

The BPSO designation demonstrate that CarePartners is a recognized leader in the sustained and expanded implementation and evaluation of RNAO’s best practice guidelines (BPGs).
CarePartners is able to demonstrate our credibility and leadership in providing excellent care. It shows we are a leader in implementing evidence based practice and developing and measuring outcomes within the community sector.

The BPSO designation marks our organization as one striving to create and maintain a culture of excellence within Canadian health-care by embedding evidence into daily nursing practice. Our organization is leading a growing group of BPSOs that are eager to take on the challenge of forging new and innovative ways of nursing healthcare delivery.
